Kinary, an all-in-one mobile app that equips family caregivers with essential digital tools to streamline and manage daily responsibilities, has officially announced the news of achieving several key milestones through a grant from the California Department of Aging’s CalGrows Innovation Fund.
According to certain reports, the company’s program, focused on training 1,000 direct and family caregivers who were given access to the technology for free, ended up with more than double that amount of family caregivers. In total, the effort included 3,108 course enrollments and over 23,430 hours of instruction completed. Furthermore, Kinary made it possible for 1,000 California caregivers to complete over 1,800 courses, showcasing Kinary’s commitment to address the needs of caregivers, as well as the strong demand for these vital resources.
More on the same would reveal how HealthiPeople¹, the company behind Kinary, was actually one of only 150 companies awarded a grant by the CalGrows Innovation Fund in May 2023. As a result, HealthiPeople offered its innovative Kinary technology and tailored support resources to guide direct care workers and family caregivers in California to care for older adults and people with disabilities.
“Kinary’s accomplishments through the CalGrows grant reflect the urgent need for accessible support for family caregivers across the country,” said Rohit Maheshwari, CEO of Kinary.
Talk about Kinary technology on a slightly deeper level, we begin from its centralized dashboard, which you can leverage to prioritize daily tasks and make critical decisions to focus on what truly matters, while simultaneously avoiding burnout. Next up, we have a facility in place for appointment and medication management. This particular facility has its utility, by and large, rooted in helping caregivers track appointments and medications in one place, thus enabling them to stay organized and in control at all times.
Then, there are dedicated “Care Squads,” who basically share caregiving duties with family, friends, and external resources to reduce isolation, and at the same time, cut down on the load. Joining that would be an assortment of real-time activity feeds that let you monitor care activities to ensure your loved ones receive consistent and high-quality care.
“As someone in the ‘sandwich generation,’ balancing my work and my family’s needs while caring for aging parents, I understand firsthand the profound challenges and emotional demands caregivers face. After navigating a few health scares with my parents, it became clear to me how crucial it is to have the right tools and preparation to care for them effectively. This personal journey fuels my and my team’s commitment to Kinary—to provide others in similar situations with tools and support they need to live healthier, more balanced lives while dedicating themselves to their loved ones,” said Maheshwari.
Alongside the news of its latest milestones, Kinary has also unveiled free access of its self-paced online training courses so to bestow family caregivers with essential skills and resources at no cost. These courses, on their part, happen to address unique challenges of caregiving, ranging from daily care routines to stress management techniques. By doing so, they will give caregivers the knowledge and support which is needed to navigate the latter’s demanding job. In fact, the company is set to launch new training opportunities specifically for dementia caregivers, available until January 1, 2025.
Another detail worth a mention here stems from a recent survey, which claims that Kinary has even managed to reduce caregiver stress and burnout. You see, going by a recent survey of Kinary app users, 41% of respondents revealed a significant decrease in stress, whereas 38 percent experienced a moderate reduction. To go with that, every respondent felt more prepared to continue in their caregiving roles after completing Kinary’s training.
Moving forward, Kinary will introduce advanced AI-driven features to simplify daily caregiving tasks, improve the organization and accessibility of essential information, and offer predictive insights to anticipate care needs.
“We believe that AI holds immense potential to transform caregiving by simplifying daily responsibilities and offering tailored support for everyday tasks,” said Maheshwari. “Our app will soon empower caregivers to access insights that make care safer, more adaptable to each unique caregiving journey.”
